Signature upon receipt:

Most of our shipments contain valuable items, so our carrier is required to obtain a signature upon receipt. If you anticipate being unable to sign for your package, you can have the item sent to an address where a trusted person can receive it for you. Once your order has been shipped, we are unable to change the shipping address.

Preparation and delivery times:

Our intention is to get your order to you as soon as possible. However, we reserve a reasonable period of 1 to 3 business days for the preparation of your order. In terms of delivery, normal delivery times are usually 1 to 5 business days in Quebec, depending on the delivery method chosen. In 90% of cases, the orders we ship are delivered within an average of 2 to 5 working days from the moment the order was submitted to the online store.

Note dated August 20, 2020 regarding deadlines:

This year being special because of the Covid-19 pandemic, transport companies and services are in high demand. Our experience since March 25, 2020, when we switched our business model to 100% online commerce, is that approximately 7% of our shipments arrive a little later than the desired deadline of 5 days. It has happened on a few occasions that packages were temporarily lost in post office or Dicom warehouses but ultimately, they arrived safely. Approximately 0.37% of our packages were completely lost or damaged. In this case, we took action quickly and re-delivered the goods. It is very important to read the paragraphs “Tracking and tracking your order” And “Signature upon receipt” just below to know what to do in the event of this eventuality.

Procedure when receiving your order:

The carrier is responsible for delivering your order to you in full and undamaged.

You are responsible for counting the number of boxes received and visually inspecting your packages BEFORE signing the carrier's receipt. If the merchandise appears to have been damaged in transit, please take the time to open your packages BEFORE signing. Indeed, when you sign for receipt, you acknowledge that the merchandise is in good condition. However, if you sign without worrying about the condition of the package and it ends up being damaged, it will be difficult to prove that it was not you who damaged it and the carrier will no longer recognize its responsibility afterwards.

If the goods have been damaged in transport :

  1. DO NOT SIGN the transport voucher and refuse the package;
  2. Take a photo of the damaged package;
  3. Send us the photo by email at info@districtdesign.ca with your contact details, the invoice number within 3 days maximum following receipt of the order .

We will then make arrangements with the carrier to send you the products ordered again (and in better conditions).

If the order is incomplete :

  1. YOU CAN SIGN the transport voucher and ACCEPT the package(s);
  2. Take photos of the package(s) received, showing the shipping labels on the boxes and ideally the contents of each so that we can quickly identify what is missing;
  3. Send us the photos by email to the address info@districtdesign.ca with your contact details, the invoice number within 3 days maximum following receipt of the order .

We will then contact the carrier to see what is happening with the missing package(s) and ask them to resolve the situation. If they are unable to trace the package within a reasonable time, we will take action to ship what is missing.

Color Accuracy:

Since colors can hardly be accurately rendered on a computer screen, we encourage you to do a test on a small area to ensure that the color is consistent with your expectations. If the color does not match what you want, we will be happy to adjust it as long as you can show us precisely the exact color of your choice. It is indeed less expensive to send your containers back to us to modify them than to have to start the work again!

In the more specific case of wood stains and finishing oils, the shades obtained may vary depending on the type of wood – or even from one batch to another of the same species. The final color is always nuanced by the wood grain, texture, porosity, as well as by the method of preparing the wood and applying the stain. Do a test beforehand on a small surface and let dry to ensure the accuracy of the desired color. Therefore, District Design disclaims any liability if the color, once applied, is not suitable.

Several products are available in small sizes (50 ml samples). We strongly recommend ordering one to validate the color before proceeding with the full order.
