Climatic conditions – Risk of freezing/thawing (sensitive products)
Some products sold by District Design (e.g., paints, stains, primers, coatings, adhesives, and other liquids) may be sensitive to freezing/thawing . During cold weather, a package may be exposed to low temperatures during transport (sorting centers, loading docks, delivery vehicles, waiting times, etc.). District Design cannot guarantee the temperature to which a package will be exposed during transit.
1) Prevention measures
During cold periods, District Design may apply, depending on the product and destination, measures to reduce the risk (e.g. additional packaging, choice of carrier, shipping at the beginning of the week, signature requirement where available).
2) Receiving the package – customer responsibility
The customer must ensure that someone is available to receive the package to prevent it from being left outside . If the customer provides delivery instructions allowing for a deposit (e.g., balcony, mailbox, entrance) or if it is impossible to obtain a hand-delivered receipt, the customer acknowledges that this increases the risks (including freezing/thawing) and that District Design may not be held liable for any consequences related to this delivery method.
3) Procedure in case of suspected freezing/thawing
If the package or products appear to have been exposed to cold (very cold package, partially frozen product, abnormal texture):
-
Do not use the product immediately.
-
Allow containers to come to room temperature for 24 hours before opening, mixing or applying.
-
Notify District Design within 3 days of receipt and provide: photos of the package and products, invoice number and description of the problem.
District Design will analyze the situation and determine the applicable solution as appropriate (e.g., claim with the carrier, replacement, other solution).
4) Remote regions and special situations
For deliveries to remote areas (where delivery times may be longer) or when the customer chooses and pays for their own carrier, the customer acknowledges that the risks associated with transport conditions (including freezing/thawing) may be higher. In the case of a carrier chosen by the customer, responsibility for transport conditions rests with the customer from the moment the order is handed over to the selected carrier.
Procedure upon receipt of your order:
During cold periods, bring the products inside as soon as they are received and let them come to room temperature before use.
The carrier is responsible for delivering your order to you in full and undamaged.
You are responsible for counting the number of boxes received and visually inspecting your packages BEFORE signing the carrier's delivery slip. If the merchandise appears to have been damaged in transit, please take the time to open your packages BEFORE signing. When you sign for delivery, you acknowledge that the merchandise is in good condition. However, if you sign without checking the condition of the package and it is subsequently found to be damaged, it will be difficult to prove that you were not responsible for the damage, and the carrier will likely refuse to acknowledge liability.
If the goods were damaged in transit :
- DO NOT SIGN the delivery note and refuse the package;
- Take a photo of the damaged package;
- Please send us the photo by email to info@districtdesign.ca with your contact details, the invoice number within a maximum of 3 days following receipt of the order .
We will then make arrangements with the carrier to send you the ordered products again (and in better condition).
If the order is incomplete :
- YOU CAN SIGN the transport document and ACCEPT the package(s);
- Take photos of the package(s) received, showing the shipping labels on the boxes and ideally the contents of each so that we can quickly identify what is missing;
- Please send us the photos by email to the address info@districtdesign.ca with your contact details, the invoice number within a maximum of 3 days following receipt of the order .
We will then contact the carrier to find out what is happening with the missing package(s) and ask them to resolve the situation. If they are unable to locate the package within a reasonable timeframe, we will take action to ship the missing item(s).
