Refund policy

At District Design, we want your shopping experience to be enjoyable and free of unpleasant surprises. Please read the following section carefully before placing your order — especially if you are purchasing custom-tinted paint or stain.
⚠️ Products That CANNOT Be Returned
The following products are not returnable, exchangeable or refundable, without exception:
- Custom-tinted or coloured paints and stains (any personalized colour)
- Opened or partially used products
- Special-order products (ordered or supplied in special quantities for a customer)
Our recommendation: before ordering a tinted product, we strongly suggest ordering a sample first (50 ml format available for many products) to test the colour on your surface. It's far less costly than starting over!

Returnable Products
Non-personalized (untinted) products and accessories may be returned for exchange or refund within 30 days of the purchase date, provided they are in perfect resalable condition.
Eligibility for return is indicated on each product page.
How to Make a Return
In-Store Return (Recommended)
Bring the products you wish to return directly to our store — this way you avoid return shipping fees.
District Design 215 Saint-Charles Street W, Longueuil, QC J4H 1E1 Monday to Saturday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The refund will be processed upon receipt of the merchandise, in perfect resalable condition.
Return by Shipping
If you are returning products by a shipping carrier:
- Return shipping costs are the customer's responsibility.
- Pack the merchandise carefully.
- Purchase shipping insurance to protect your shipment: if the merchandise does not reach us or arrives damaged, we will not be able to process a refund.

Return Fees
Certain product categories are subject to return fees, as indicated on the product page under "Additional Information — Returns & Exchanges":
- Wallpaper and wall murals: return fee of 25% of the purchase amount
Original Shipping Fees — Non-Refundable
Original shipping fees will not be refunded if a customer changes their mind and returns their order.
Shipping fees are District Design's responsibility only in the event of an error on our part or if a product proves to be defective.
Colour Accuracy
Colours displayed on screen do not always accurately represent the actual colour of a product. We strongly recommend testing on a small surface before starting your project. If the colour does not meet your expectations, we will gladly adjust the tint — provided you can show us precisely the colour you are looking for.
Wood Stains and Finishing Oils
The final colour is influenced by several factors: wood species, grain, texture, porosity, surface preparation and application method. Colour may vary from one batch to another, even within the same species. District Design assumes no responsibility if the colour, once applied to wood, does not meet the customer's expectations.
General Terms and Liability
District Design reserves the right to:
- Update its products, prices, promotions and online content at any time, without notice.
- Refuse, modify or cancel any order for any reason deemed valid.
- Set a maximum quantity of products available for sale.
- Make no guarantee as to the availability of advertised products at the time of purchase or in the future.
District Design's liability is limited to the amount paid for products purchased through the online store and to the replacement of defective products. Labour costs may under no circumstances be claimed from District Design.
All consumer rights provided for under the laws and regulations applicable in Quebec are fully preserved. Any dispute falls under the jurisdiction of the courts of Quebec, judicial district of Longueuil.
