Osmo - TopOil - Oil-wax for wooden kitchen surfaces

SURFACE PREPARATION

The wood surface must be clean, dry and moisture-free (maximum 18% humidity). TopOil Osmo is ready to use and must not be diluted. It is important to mix the product well. It is also necessary to carefully clean old microporous stains and completely remove old layers of varnish. The final result will depend in particular on the characteristics of the wood. Therefore, it is recommended to do a test application, especially if the substrate is of an unknown type.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

Apply gently in the direction of the wood grain using a lint-free cloth. Allow to dry for approximately 8-10 hours, ensuring good ventilation. Repeat application 2-3 times according to the instructions above. For renovation, only one coat applied with a cloth is necessary.

By hand, using a cloth

Apply three or four thin coats using a lint-free cloth.

1. Rub the product into the wood using circular or figure 8 movements.
2. Let the product penetrate for about 15 minutes
3. By wiping in the direction of the wood grain, remove any excess product from the surface.
4. Allow approximately 8-10 hours for the wood to dry before applying the next coat.
5. Apply the second and third (and fourth, if necessary) coats following the previous steps.

By hand using a brush

Apply two thin coats using an Osmo natural bristle brush or similar brush.

1. Spread the product well in all directions using the brush and make sure to apply a thin layer.
2. Let the product penetrate for about 15 minutes
3. Using the brush and working in the direction of the wood grain, apply the product evenly to the surface and remove any excess.
4. Do not let the product build up to form a film: if this happens, there has been excess application of the product.
5. Allow approximately 8-10 hours for the wood to dry before applying the next coat.
6. Apply the second coat following the previous steps.
7. Clean the brush with Osmo Cleaner & Thinner or with turpentine.

Coloring

Osmo Deco Wax can also be used to lightly tint TopOil 3056 up to a 10:1 ratio. Do not exceed a ratio of 10 parts TopOil 3056 to 1 part Deco Wax.

CLEANING TOOLS

With Osmo Cleaner/Diluent (aromatic-free).

DRYING

Allow to dry for approximately 8-10 hours under normal climatic conditions (23°C/50% relative humidity) and with good ventilation. If temperatures are low and/or humidity is high, the drying time will be considerably extended.

NOTICED

The colourless TopOil 3028 and 3058 enhance the natural colour of the wood by creating a permanent wet effect. In contrast, TopOil 3068 Natural contrasts with this effect and protects the wood almost invisibly. On dark/red woods, the application of TopOil 3068 Natural can make the surface slightly white and chalky. It is important not to apply too much product and to ventilate the room well to speed up the drying time. For the inside of cabinets and drawers, simply apply a single coat of product with a cloth and ventilate the room well. If you want to achieve a higher level of shine, you can polish the surface using Osmo care and cleaning product (also available as a spray). Surfaces treated with Osmo TopOil can be easily cleaned using a damp cloth with water and Osmo Wisch-Fix, followed by wiping. To remove stubborn stains, you can use the Special Maintenance Wax which cleans and regenerates at the same time.

Yes, you can mix TopOil 3056 with Osmo Deco Wax for a light coloring, but do not exceed a ratio of 10:1.

7. How to maintain surfaces treated with TopOil?

Clean with a damp cloth and Osmo Wisch-Fix. For stubborn stains, use Osmo Special Care Wax.

8. Is TopOil durable and resistant?

Yes, it is very durable, resistant to water, chemicals and splashes of common liquids. It is also resistant to saliva and sweat, making it suitable for children's toys.

9. Can the surface be retouched or refreshed without sanding?

Yes, you can touch up and refresh the surface treated with TopOil without the need for sanding.
